Research Notes

Yves Drolet’s comprehensive dossier for the descendance of the Denys family while noting the baptism of a daughter Jeanne 25 Oct 1610 at Tours makes no further mention of her or any marriage to which she might have been a party. It therefore seems unjustified (and unlikely) to presume that she is the same as the mother of the immigrant Pierre Morel. Parents were added after the profile’s creation; the original date of birth was previously estimated as 1624, with the Drolet source added later. As her son Pierre Morel indicated his origins were in Poitou, not Touraine, this purported family connection would require more evidence to be credible.

Update Mar 2023 Jacques Denys & Marie Cosnier have been removed as parents and previously estimated birthyear of 1624 restored.

Surname needs a change to: Denys, according to the Yves Drolet GEN doc , as in sources. (with Denis as Other Names, if there is a source).  :)
