Biography

John Henry Denise was baptized on September 13, 1834 in Carlisle, Franklin Township, Warren, Ohio at the New Jersey Presbyterian Church. He died in Montgomery, Ohio.

Son of Obediah Denise (1808–1839) and Catharine van der Veer (1816–1892).

1850 United States Census, German Township, Darke, Ohio: Samuel W. Throp is head of household, a wagon maker age 32, with wife Catharine Throp age 34, and children John H. Throp age 17, Rhoda J. D. Throp age 14, Tunis W. Throp age 8, Judiah W. Throp age 6, Benjamin N. Throp age 4 and Hanah A. Throp age 2.

Darke Co. Ohio - Common Pleas Court Records, Montgomery, Ohio: John Henry Denise etal. vs. Catherine Throp. Petition for Partition, filed January 5, 1854. Obediah Denise, late of Montgomery Co., Ohio, deceased, died intestate about 1837. Land, NE 1.4 Section 17 township 12, Range 2, 160 acres. Widow Catherine late Denise, now wife of Samuel Throp, Darke Co. Children: John Henry Denise and Rhoda Jane late Denise, wife of Joseph Achey: by Samuel Throp their guardian (210).
