Biography

William was born around 1819 (original parish register shows him baptised North Curry on 7 Sep 1823 aged 4).

William was convicted of stealing a gun & a shot belt. His father William submits an unsuccessful petition for clemency (HO18/104/4 - UK National Archives - I have a digital copy). William left Plymouth on 28 Apr 1843 aboard the newly launched Cressy, a wooden hulled convict hulk/prison ship. The ship arrived in Hobart, Tasmania, 4 months later, on 20 August 1843.

William died in 1907 at Port Albert, Victoria. He was 86 years old. [1]
