James Dennis was born about 1818 at Ireland.[1]
Arrived in South Australia in the early 1860's.[2]
James married Mary Anne Cronin in 1863 at Burra, South Australia.[3] They had two children:
After Mary died in 1874, James married fellow Irish emigrant, Kate Tobin in 1875 at Clare, South Australia.[4] They had four sons:
James took his family in 1883 to Gladstone, South Australia, where he ran the Gladstone Hotel. In 1890 they moved again, this time to Laura where James became the publican of the Beetaloo Reservoir Hotel.
Kate died in 1890 and James passed away, aged 92 years, in 1910 at Port Adelaide. He is buried in the West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide.[5]
