Morton Revolutionary War Pension & Bounty Land Warrant Application Files http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/LUNSFORD/1996-06/0835809351 Rubin Lunsford received a land grant of 80 acres in Bath County, Virginia in 1857. 1. Margaret (Dennison Lunsford) Higgins applied for a widow's pension on Reuben Lunceford's service in the Virginia Continental Line on Feb. 18, 1857 from her home in Lawrence County, Ohio. It states that Reuben was drafted, served 18 months and that he came from Amherst County, VA . Margaret stated she was married to Reuben Lunsford in 1791 Bath County, Virginia and she had been a widow for 12 years.

Mary Margaret Dennison Lunsford Higgins was 80 years old when she requested Reuben's pension. She seems to have confused the Revolutionary War with the War of 1812. Reuben's military service documents report that he served in the War of 1812.

Margaret & NOT MARY MARGARET was the daughter of John Dennison & Mary Unknown.

John died about 1790-his wife Mary was a widow in the 1791, 1792 & 1793 Tax Record for Bath Co. VA. So Mary died after 1793.

John & Mary had 3 sons & several daughters- John, Thomas, Jonathan & Margaret

Thomas was married to Eleanor Redding & in 1857 he was the attorney for his sister Margaret who was trying to get Reuben-her 1st husband-pension.

Do you have a link to her find a grave so that I can change it. Maybe Rueben was through Ruebens second marriage. I will do some research on the information you have given me. Thank you so much for informing me about your Grandmother.
This was my grandmother. Her name was Margaret-NOT Mary. She was born 1770 in Virginia & she last appears on the 1860 Census in Lawrence Co. OH where she was 90 yrs. old living with her daughter-my grandmother Margaret Corn.

Reuben Lansford was her 1st husband. They married May 30,1792 in Bath Co. VA. They had 3 children William, John & Mary Ann. NO REUBEN. On Oct. 18, 1800 in Bath Co. VA she married my grandfather John Higgins. They had 6 kids. Nancy, James, Elizabeth, John, Margaret & Thomas. Some people have her parents as James Lewis Dennison & Nancy Anderson but there's NO proof of this so far. That's not her grave at the above findagrave link.
