Biography

Harvey was noted as born in Stilesville, but I do not think it was in town, although it might have been in the part that has been Hendricks and Putnam at different times. 1850 census he is living in Marion Twp, Putnam. Need to review. Land records as his dad died when he was a boy and in 1850 his mother was head of household and her dad Allen James Burks was there.

In 1862 he enlisted in the 81st Reg., Ind. Vol. Inf, the Flag Company for the Union Army and fought at Stone River. Later he was a member of the 68th Co, 2nd Bat., Veteran Reserve Corps.

Harvey married Amanda Piercy 27 September 1868 in Putnam County, Indiana. ^[1] [1]

28 March 1892 he married Elizabeth Brothers in Putnam County. ^[2] [2]

He later established a mercantile business, The One Price Store. Harvey was a postmaster for 14 years, and a Trustee of the Church of Christ.

Harvey died 4 June 1930 of pneumonia in his home in Cloverdale and was buried in the Cloverdale Cemetery, Cloverdale, Indiana. He was Cloverdale's oldest citizen when he died.
