Note

There are a father ('yeoman') and son Robert at Grundisburgh around 1670 (docs L1/7 and L1/89 in Suffolk RO).
There are also many Dennys buried at Yoxford, and some (all infants) at Otley 1814-24.

Christening

12 MAR 1758
Grundisburgh, Suffolk
Although assumed death record implies a slightly later birth date, this christening record is the only likely one found.
There is an earlier Denny family at Grundisburgh (parents John and Margaret), but their christenings stop at 1749, and do not appear to include a John.
A private entry in the IGI gives a christening at Framsden in 1773 to parents William and Susan, but this seems to be ruled out by the date of his marriage.

Burial

21 JUN 1837
Otley, Suffolk (rec. age 71)
This seems to be the only likely burial record found in the immediate area of Grundisburgh.[3]

APR 1783
Otley, Suffolk
Although villages of Grundisburgh and Otley are a few miles apart, the ancient parishes do adjoin.
Marriage was by banns called on March 16, 23 and 30. Witnesses were Tho Warren? and Mary Roddick. All parties made their marks.
All children's details taken from IGI (based on parish register), and confirmed from book of transcripts. Christenings were all at Grundisburgh. See Amy's page re probable date of her birth.
Son John was buried in December 1784, and Sophia in January 1786 (she appears to have been christened and buried the same day).

1788
Grundisburgh, Suffolk
Suffolk Record Office has a removal order dated 6.8.1788 for John Denny and his wife Ann from Grundisburgh to Iken. This is a mystery for several reasons, because Iken is some way away, and no connection with that parish is known - and they appear to have remained here anyway!
