Biography

Martin Denny was born about 1816 in Surry County, North Carolina to Azariah Denny and Elizabeth Stone. Martin Denny married Nancy Permelia Key on April 1, 1841 in Surry County, NC. He is listed in the 1850 US Federal Census as living in Pilot District, Surry County with wife, Permelia Denney, and children Sarah (age 8) and Killis A. (Age 3). He is listed in the 1860 census living in the Snatchville District, Surry County and in the 1880 census in the Pilot District of Surry County. He died before 1896. He was the father of Sarah, William A., Achillis Martin, Nancy Mahailey and Lewis E.
