Obituary
Elliott N. Dent, aged 41, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Dent of Route 4, Elizabeth, was drowned on Thursday night in the Muskingum river at McConnelsville, Ohio. According to some reports, he was in a boat running a trot line about 10:00 p.m. Thursday. The body was recovered a short time later but efforts to revive him failed.
Mr. Dent was a veteran of World War II. A former Wirt County teacher, he was a member of the Two Ripple Baptist Church and of the American Legion.
Final rites were conducted Monday afternoon from the Two Ripple Baptist Church. The Reverend H.L. Short of Littleton officiated and was assisted by the Reverend Ross McCoy of Route 4, Elizabeth. Interment followed in the church cemetery with members of Wirt Post No. 55, the American Legion, in charge of a military burial.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a daughter, Mrs. John Huffman of Parkersburg; three brothers, Caswell Dent of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, Ralph Dent of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Adrian Dent of Butte, Montana; a half-brother, Howard Conrad, of Belpre, Ohio; and two sisters, Mrs. John Wilson of Weirton, and Mrs. John Murray of Grafton.[1]
