At the time of the 1901 census, Emma was recorded as being 7 years and living with her Father, Charles Denton (36), a Railway labourer, Mother, Hannah Denton (36), a Straw Hat Sewer, sisters Jane (11) and Sarah (9) and brothers Charles (4) and James (6 months). They were residing at 3 Park Road West, Luton, Bedfordshire. [2]
When the 1911 census was taken, Emma, now 17 years, was working as a Cartoon Box Maker in the Straw industry, She was single and still living with her parents, Charles, (47), a labourer blacksmith for Midland Railway, Hannah (Annie), (47), a hat machinist in the straw trade, Sisters Sarah (19), also a Cartoon Box Maker in the Straw Trade, and Ellen (5), and brothers James (9) and Henry (7). They were now residing at 47 Burr Street, Luton, Bedfordshire.[3]
In the second quarter of 1915, Emma married William H Gentle, in Luton, Bedfordshire. [4]
They had 2 daughters, Bessie born 1915 and Florence Alice born 1918 died 1926.
Emma passed away aged 41 years in 1935, in Luton, Bedfordshire. [5]
