"LOCAL INTELLIGENCE." South Australian Register (Adelaide, SA : 1839 - 1900) 31 March 1847: 2.

On Monday evening, about 9 o'clock, a dreadful accident happened to a man named Denton, formerly of Kermode-street, North Adelaide, shoemaker and carrier to the Burra mine. It appears that he was returning from the mine with his dray laden with about two tons of ore, riding on the pole, and had arrived near Bryce's, the Adelaide side of the Dry Creek, when the supposition is that being asleep he fell off, and the wheel passing over his head crushed it in a most shocking manner. Bryce, seeing the dray pass his place without a driver, thought it strange, and walked a short way on the road to see if anything had happened, when he discovered the dead body of the unfortunate man lying in the road.

The deceased has left a widow and five children. ^[6]
