Henry Derrick was born on August 9, 1788, in Shenandoah, Virginia. He married Catherine Branner on April 6, 1809, in Jefferson, Tennessee. They had ten children in 23 years. He died on July 14, 1856, in Woodville, Alabama, at the age of 67, and was buried there.
