Biography

Jean Baptiste was born about 1812 at White Mud River. He was named after an uncle who had served with the North West Company.

It's possible that Baptiste was the same individual who had Servant Contracts with the HBC in 1841 in York Factory and 1844 in Fort Simpson.[1]

Baptiste married Sophia Erasmus at St. Andrew's, Red River Settlement in 1837.[2][3]

In the 1870 census Batiste (age 58) was the head of household in White Mud River, Manitoba, Canada.[4]
