Little is known of Aurelie Desmarais prior to her marriage to Vital Valcourt. Records suggest she was born in French Canada about 1857 or 1858. She married Vital, a widower, on 9 Jun 1881, in Providence, Rhode Island. The only information about her parentage on that record is her mother's name, "Marie Desmarais."[1]
Aurelie and Vital had four children, Vitaline (Valcourt) Martinage (1882); Blanche Rosa Valcourt (1885), who died at 11 months of age; Mabel Ida (Valcourt) Ross (1887); and Alice Henriette (Valcourt) Gordon (1888).
Aurelie was still alive for the 1910 census. Based on information on the 3 August 1916 death certificate of her husband Vital--that he was still married and that the informant was Amelia Valcour--it appears that she may have died after him.[2]
