Biography

Sophie Desmarets, daughter of Jean Baptiste Desmarets and Magdelaine Fontenot, was born on 15 Feb. 1791 and baptized on 9 Sep. 1792. Her birth and baptism were recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.^[1]

She was from Pointe Coupee, Louisiana, but living in St. Landry Parish when she married Ursin Manuel, son of Pierre Manuel and Genevieve Albert, on 30 July 1807. Their marriage was recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church.^[1]
