Jean was born about 1800. He is the son of Henri Michael Detcheverry and Euphrosine Landry. He passed away about 1892. MacIsaac & DesRoches list him as: "John/Jean Cheverie Detcheverry St Colu" [sic].
I have not discovered why "St Colu" is there. I would speculate that it is a fragment referring to St. Columbus Catholic church, but I don't know the significance. One of his children (Frederick) has the same tag. Another son (James) is called "James Cheverie Souris," & Souris is a well-known place-name in PEI. Does this mean that some members of this family were known by those nicknames, or is it the result of editorial errors in the chain of copies from one family-tree searcher to another, with "St Colu and "Souris" origially referring to places of birth &/or baptism?[1]
