João dos Ramos, known as João de Deus, was a Portuguese poet, pedagogue and editor. Wrote the famous didactic book Cartilha Maternal (1876), used to teach the Portuguese language across the country during the 19th and 20th centuries.
João Deus Ramos was born on March 08, 1830 in São Bartolomeu de Messines, Silves, Faro, Portugal.[1] His parents were Pedro José dos Ramos and Isabel Gertrudes Martins.[1]
João de Deus graduated from the University of Coimbra, receiving a degree in Law.[2]
He married Guilhermina das Mercês Battaglia on May 04, 1874 in São Nicolau, Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal.[3]
He died on January 11, 1896 in Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal.
