Catherine's Irish heritage was referred to in an 1954 article in the Herald Sun Weekly Magazine on fishing at St Leonards "FISHERS .... for loaves" where her grandson George Francis Rigby (son of George Rigby) refers to Catherine as of Irish & Celtic background (Fleetwood grandfather & Irish grandmother) & (Lancashire grandfather, Celtic grandmother) which means she is most likely from Ireland. Catherine passed away in 1880 aged 40 after childbirth at her home at North Paywit a farming district near the shore 3 miles (east) from Portarlington. North Paywit is now most likely Indented Head as North Paywit is now no longer a suburb since the early 1900's.

5 Mar 1880 - Death Inquest Finding:- Died in labour of rupture of the womb before being confined aged 40 years. She told Alice Cox, who was employed as a midwife & nurse that she had two dead children before, but this child she was bearing was not dead. Alice's mother Catherine Pywell was the other woman attendant. [6]

Catherine's son William Edward Rigby (Ned Rigby) was a fisherman-farmer, who lived opposite the Batman Memorial, No. 358 (The Esplanade, Indented Head) was a member of the original Batman Park Committee of Management (17 June 1925)
