Biography
Rebecca Dewees Haynes, the daughter of Benjamin F. Dewees and 2/w Pharaba Roberts, was born April 22, 1823 in Grayson County, Kentucky. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Dewees and Phebe Brodhead. Her maternal grandparents were Charles Roberts and Frances Langston of Logan County, Kentucky.
After the death of her older sister. Lurana Dewees Haynes, Rebecca married her brother-in-law, Henry Haynes, the son of John Barton Haynes and Rhoda A. Huff. The were married on May 21, 1846 in Grayson County and were the parents of: Eliza Ann - m. William O. Norris Henry W. - d. before 1860 Phebe Josephine - m. Dr. Robert Hunter Emily - m. Wallace Gruelle
Rebecca Dewees Haynes died on October 9, 1868 at the age of 45 years, 5 months and 13 days. She was buried in the Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County, Kentucky.[1]
