Private Hugo Dewey, born 04 December 1753 in Westfield, Massachusetts, died 17 April 1833 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and his wife Hannah Sprague are honored for service to Massachusetts during the American Revolution: 1) CAPTS NOBLE, GOODRICH; COLS BROWN, ASHLEY. Their son Grotius Dewey, born 1782, married Maria Fairchild. ^[1]

Death of Spouse

Susan Maria Dewey, the daughter of Lucinda and Moses Fairchild, died at age 32 on 10 December 1822 in Alford, Massachusetts. ^[4]

Grotius Dewey, a resident of Great Barrington, Massachusetts, married (2) to Mrs. Eunice Litchfield. They filed marriage intentions on 03 September 1838. ^[5]

There is a FAG listing for a Grotius Dewey that may be this one because of the Berkshire location:

Grotius Dewey was born in 1781 and died 29 Dec 1860 (aged 78–79). He was buried in the Mahaiwe Cemetery in Great Barrington, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.^[6]

There is a marriage record for a Crotius and Eunice Litchfield Dewey ^[7] that, again because of the Berkshire location, probably refers to him but I'm not sure that the Eunice Litchfield referred to is the one profiled in Litchfield-269.

There is another marriage record for a Grotius Dewey and a Maria Fairchild. ^[8] They seem to have had a number of children.
