LITTLE FALLS, Minn. - - Mrs. George (Dessie R.) Lehrke, formerly of St. Cloud, Rt. 1, died in Cushing, Minn. May 5. Funeral services were Thursday in the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Lehrke was born in Osceolo County, Iowa, March 2, 1893, to the late Thomas H. and Mary Barner Dewey and the family moved to Little Falls, Minn., in 1902. She married George Lehrke on June 26, 1926 [at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in Little Falls, MN]. They lived in St. Cloud until 1960 when they moved to Lake Alexander.
She is survived by a brother, Frank Dewey, Little Falls; and a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Peterson, Minneapolis. Her husband preceded her in death.
Dessie graduated from St. Cloud Teachers College, taught school in Backus, Barnesville and Little Falls; and was an interviewer for KFAM radio station, St. Cloud. She was a member of the Stearns County Federation of Women's Club and a past regent of the St. Cloud Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She served on the St. Cloud Park and Recreation Board, Stearns County Historical Society, Women's Service for Civilian Defense and organized the St. Cloud Bird Club. She was a member of the 20th Century Club and worth matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
