Joel was born in 1821 and he was the son of Oliver Dewey and Jemima Wright.[1] His parents brought the family to Fulton County, Illinois in 1832.[2] He married Louisa Hart in 1845 in Fulton County, Illinois.[3] He passed away after 1870 and before 1880 as Louisa is listed as widowed then.[4]
