Biography

Noah Dewey was born in Lebanon, Connecticut, on 8 July 1734, a son of Noah and Abigail Dewey.[1][2] Benjamin Dwight's 1875 account of the Dewey family gave a birth date of 28 July 1734.[3] There is some difficulty distinguishing him and his father in the records;[4] both had the same name and both married women named Abigail.

Noah Dewey served under Capt. Ebenezer Leach of Coventry, Connecticut, from 4 September to 24 November 1755. He served under Capt. Azel Fitch of Lebanon, Connecticut, from 11 April 1760 to 27 May 1760, when he deserted, and again from 27 March to 1 December 1762.[4] He married in about 1758 to Abigail, whose last name is not known. Their dates of death are also not known.[4]

The Early Vermont Settlers profile indicates that the last name of Noah's wife Abigail is unknown. I was unable to find any evidence that Abigail Robinson ever married Noah Dewey. She was married to Silas Flint and having babies with him at essentially the same time that Noah and Abigail Dewey were having babies.

Accordingly, I am disconnecting Noah from Abigail Robinson and creating an Abigail Unknown profile for his wife.
