Stephen Dexter was born at Smithfield in 1703, son of John and Mary (Field) Dexter. ^{[1] [2]}

He married Mehitable Knight ^[1] on April 23, 1733 ^[3]

Stephen died on October 1, 1741 ^[3] and is buried in the North Burial Ground at Providence. ^{[4] [5]}
