Biography

Israel Dick was born 31 Dec 1817,[1] probably in York Co, PA, son of Philip Dick and Mary (Abbott) Dick.

He married Elizabeth Stone (or Stein, Stine), probably about 1844[2], and they had seven children, Josiah, George, Sophia, Calvin, Jeremiah, Mary and Eli.

In 1850 Israel and Elizabeth were living in Shrewsbury, York Co, PA, close to the household of Israel's parents.[3] Living with them were three children, Josiah, George and Sophia. Israel's occupation is listed in the census as Blacksmith.

By 1860 the family had moved to Rye Twp, Perry Co, PA.[4] In 1870 they were still living in Rye.[5] All seven children were living with them at this time and Israel's occupation is listed as Farmer. In 1880 Israel and Elizabeth were still living in Rye Twp, Perry Co, PA, now with only their youngest child,[6] a nephew (John Wesley Dick), and a boarding couple.[7]

Israel Dick died 27 June 1884[8] and is buried in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville, Perry Co, PA.[9]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Israel by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Israel:
