James was born about 1885.
On 14 July 1905, at the age of 20, he married Jessie Chambers at 9 Clayton Terrace, Dennistoun, Glasgow. At the time of their marriage the address of both James and Jessie was 34 Edmund Street, Glasgow. James's occupation shown on the marriage certificate is "Calenderer's Packer".
James had died prior to 27 April 1934 when Jessie remarried and was shown as being a widow on her marriage certificate.
Note: There is a degree of doubt as to whether the person with the surname of Dick to whom Jessie was first married was actually the James Dick referred to above. On both her marriage certificates Jessie's mother is shown as also having the first name of Jessie. However, on the first marriage certificate (1905) Jessie's mother's surname is shown as McFadyen while on the second certificate (1934) it is Miller. Her father is shown as George (deceased), a shipwright, on the first certificate and James (deceased), a gardener, on the second.
Details obtained at a visit to Scotland's People Family History Centre, 2 Princes Street, Edinburgh on 29 October 2008.
