Biography

Elizabeth, child of Frederick George Dickens & Mary Patience Dickens, was born in 1894 and baptised on 5 October 1894 in Penarth St Augustine, Glamorganshire, Wales.^[1]

Elizabeth's birth was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1894 in the Of Cardiff district.^[2]

Elizabeth Prudence Dickens (Spinster, age 24, of 84 Fircroft Rd, daughter of F. G. Dickens) married Private George Henry Bellgrove (16th Battallion, Bachelor, age 26, Signwriter, of Geraldton, WA, son of Alex Bellgrove) on 22 Dec 1918 at Holy Trinity Church, Balham, London, England. ^[3][4] The marriage was registered^[5]during the fourth quarter of 1918 in the district of Wandsworth, Surrey.

According to the South Australia, Australia Police Gazette^[6]Elizabeth notified that her husband George had deserted her on 5 May 1923 after leaving her with inadequate means of support and he was issued with an arrest warrant to be brought before the Adelaide, South Australia court.

Notice is hereby given to George Henry Bellgrove. whose last known address was WinniFred-avenue, Plympton, in the State of South Australia, that a writ has been issued in the Supreme Court of South Australia in an action in which his wife, Elizabeth Prudence Bellgrove, claims an order for divorce on the ground of his desertion of five years and upwards and in such action his wife intends to ask for an order for custody of the children, and if George Henry Bellgrove desires to be heard in opposition to the claim for any such orders he must file an appearance in the office of the Master of the said Supreme Court within 30 days of the publication of this advertisement, otherwise orders may be made against him in his absence.
