Biography

Nancy V. (Dickenson) Carty was born in May of 1834 in Virginia. Nancy was the daughter of Edmund Dickenson and Mary "Polly" Honaker of Russell County, Virginia. Edmund was veteran of the War of 1812 and Mary was the granddaughter of Hans Honaker, who supported the Revolutionary War with supplies.

Nancy married Robert D. Carty in Russell Co. Va. He was the grandson of Revolutionary War patriot, David Carty.[1]

Octogenerarian Dies at Jacksboro

Mrs. Nancy Carty, who left Collin county on March 11, for Jack county, where she went to make her home with a son, D. R. Carty, who resides in Jacksboro, was only a resident of that county 11 days. She died at the home of her son on March 22, and her remains were laid to rest at that place.

Mrs. Carty, who was 86 years old, was born in Russell county Virginia, and lived in that State until two years ago, when she came to Collin county to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Steele, who lived in new Princeton, but who died a few months ago.

After the death of her daughter, Mrs. Carty decided to make her home with her son in Jack county, and as above stated only lived eleven days after she arrived here.

Deceased professed faith in Christ at an early age and united herself with the Methodist church, in which organization she remained a faithful member until about one year ago, when she joined the Christian church at Mt. Zion.

Mrs. Carty is survived by one daughter and five sons as follows: Mrs. Dona Biggs, of Virginia; Messers. Bob and George Carty, also of Virginia; W.A. Carty, of near Jacksboro, with whom she was living, and John Carty of the Vineland community, this county.
