DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jane by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jane:
This profile contradicts itself about Jane Dickey’s marriage to Samuel Stuart. In one place it says they were married about 1754 in Londonderry, Ireland, then later in the biographical section under “Marriage,” it says they were married about 1754 in Orange County, NC. The 1859 “History of the Stuarts” by Samuel and Jane’s grandson Ned Stuart (Stewart) and other early family histories either state or imply that they married ca. 1750 in Londonderry, Ireland before immigrating to Chester County, PA. In other words they came to America as a married couple before finally settling ca. 1754 among family, relatives, and friends in Orange County, NC where they started their family, with their first child Elizabeth being born there in 1755.
Respectfully, I ask: How could Mary Kilpatrick have been Jane Dickey Stuart’s mother when Jane was born in Ireland about 1735 and Mary was born in Rutherford, NC about 1716? I have Catherine Huet (b. about 1716 in Ireland) as Jane Dickey Stuart’s mother. I’m not certain about the DNA connections, but I show up on the lists for both Jane Dickey Stuart and Catherine Huet Dickey, but not for Mary Kilpatrick Dickey on WikiTree, based on my AncestryDNA test results. Also, Jane Dickey Stuart’s and Samuel Stuart’s son John Stuart was not born as early as 1758, but more like 1768-69. Your list of her children doesn’t include Adam Stuart (1761-1836) who goes to Darlington District, SC and marries thee times, or the two daughters, Elizabeth Stuart (1755-1835) m. Aaron Harlan, III (1752-1806), and Sarah Stuart (1758-1807?) m. 1787 Robert Steele (1757-1808).
Dickey-842 and Dickey-803 are not ready to be merged because: I'm not positive of her parents. I need to do further research on them, but I don't see a problem with merging the 2 Jane Dickey profiles since they are so close in birth and death dates.
