"Thomas Dickinson, aged eighty-two, the last surviving brother of Hon. Daniel S. and John R. Dickinson, was buried at Guilford to-day. Mr. Dickinson was a life-long resident of Guilford, and an influential citizen. He had rare good sense and judgment, and great executive ability. For many years he was Justice of the Peace, and held various honorable and responsible positions. His advice was sought in import ant matters, and his opinions, wherever known, were regarded with much favor. An aged sister, Mrs. Pomona Johnson, lives in Afton, the last of an ancient family. Aside from holding the office of Justice almost uninterruptedly since 1835, deceased was Deputy Sheriff two terms." — Extract from a local paper of May 21, 1885.
