The News-Review, Roseburg, Oregon, 1 June 1997 Virginia Ann Grant GRANT, Virginia Ann – Age 74 of Winston, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 1997 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 25, 1922 in Mesa, Arizona to Charles and Ann L. (Howell) Dickinson. In 1948 in Portland, Oregon she married Harry Grant who preceded her in death in 1977. Virginia worked in the shipyards during WWII. Following the war she went to work as a hostess in the Mallory Hotel for over 20 years. She then moved to Nevada where she was involved with Project Green Thumb supervising delinquent teenagers. She had lived in Winston since October 31, 1996. She is survived by: two sons, Robert G. Grant and his wife LaVon of Winston, and Gregory Grant of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandson; a sister -in-law, Marge Dickinson of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra, who died in 1956. At her request, no funeral services will be held. Private cremation rites have been held.
