Biography

John Dickinson was born in 1828 in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, England and baptised there on 2 Mar 1828. he was the son of John Dickinson and his wife, Elizabeth Platts. ^[1][2][3][4]

In 1861, John Dickinson (33) was a baker and confectioner in Nottingham Street, Melton Mowbray. He was married to Sarah (35) and they had three daughters, Sarah Jane Dickinson, Fanny S Dickinson and Mary A Dickinson and three sons, James E Dickinson, John W Dickinson and Edward F Dickinson, all age 8 or under. The family had a 14 year old female servant.

John Dickenson's occupation in 1871 was cheese factor. John (43) and Sarah (45) have one child, a son, James Colet Dickinson (18) living with them. ^[5]

John (53) was still a cheese factor in 1881. John and Sarah (55) had four daughters and two sons living with them, Sarah J Dickinson, Fanny S Dickinson, John W Dickinson, Mary A Dickinson, Thomas P Dickinson and Mary E Dickinson, aged between 27 and 16. ^[6]

Wife, Sarah died age 59 in 1885 in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, England. ^[7]

In 1901, John Dickenson (72, a retired baker) is living with his wife, Mary Ann (72) in Leicester Street, Melton Mowbray. They have one female servant (16). ^[9]

John died in 1908 in Melton Mowbray district. ^[10]
