MARY ELIZABETH DICKSON, daughter of Richard Dickson & Katharine Talcott Hale, was born on February 18,1849 in Norfolk,Virginia, 12 years before the American Civil War (James K Polk's 4th year as 11th U.S.President). She married Merritt Todd Cooke on May 08,1879. Merritt was the son of Armistead Thompson Mason Cooke & Mary Louisa Todd. She died March 19,1922 in Norfolk shortly before The Great Depression (Warren Harding's 2nd year as 29th President). Mary Dickson Cooke is buried with her husband in Norfolk's Elmwood Cemetery
