James "Jamie" Fairfield Wills Dickson II.

1970s 10 Forest Glen, Orewa, Hibiscus Coast, Auckland
c.1982 315 Main Road, Orewa, Auckland (childhood home and address at time of death). Later known as 315 Hibiscus Coast Highway.
Occupation: Law Clerk. 1967
Cause of Death: Had tonsils out so his throat could be examined. Was given sleeping pills in hospital the night after surgery. Died in his sleep of heart failure.
Note: Jamie had been complaining about throat pain for some time. His GP told him to get his tonsils removed so his throat could be examined. He found it hard to find someone who would operate as he had very high blood pressure, heart disease and had previously had heart attacks. After his tonsillectomy his was up and walking around. The coroner's report stated that "Whilst one cannot exclude the possible role of stress related to the surgical procedure being a contributory factor in this mans death it should be noted that his cardiac disease was of such severity that death could have occured at any time.".
The family were in shock, even though they knew he had a bad heart, and some discussion was had over whether this shock initiated his wife, Carol's Alzheimer's disease. The timings compare with the average period of time from the beginning of the disease due to a shock and its diagnosis.
