By 1861, Ellen had two children with Thomas, Jane and Mary, and lived in a 1 1/2 story Framework home in Ashburnham, Peterborough, Canada West.[2] They went on to have one more child, Margaret, before Thomas passed away in 1865. By 1871, she was working as dressmaker in Ashburnham, Peterborough East, Ontario to support her small family of three girls, Jane, Mary and Margaret. [3]
A directory from 1889 states that the widow of Thomas, Ellen Crossley lived in a house at 384 Water in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. [4]
From 1881 to 1901, Ellen lived with her youngest daughter Margaret and both working as seamstresses in West Peterborough, Ontario.[5][6][7][8]
She passed away in 1918.
There is some evidence of a marriage occuring on June 21, 1858 but only indexes are currently available online, and confirmation of the original records need to be done.
