Christian Diehl (Dale) was born on February 11, 1733 in Heilbronn, Heilbronner Stadtkreis, Baden-Württemberg, Germany to Phillip Henry Diehl and Eva Barbara. [1] He immigrated to the United States aboard the Ship Edenberg when he was 16; arriving in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 15, 1749. [2] [3] He married Regina Rachel Krebs on March 12, 1754, in New Hanover, Pennsylvania. [4] [5] [6] [7] They had nine children: John Henry Dale 1756-1808 “a soldier with Washington at Trenton and Princeton in 1776-1777, and served in militia tours Under Capt Forster”; Philip Dale 1763-1824; Felix Dale 1767-1833; Frederick Dale 1772-1835; Christian Dale Jr. 1760-1814; Cornelius Dale 1774-1865; Maria “Mary” Catherine Dale 1756-1808 (wife of Nicholas Straw, a Revolutionary Soldier); Eva “Eve” Christina Dale 1768-1830 (wife of Peter Earhart); Regina Rachel Dale 1767-1796 (wife of Lewis Swinehart). [8] [9] [10] He died on July 15, 1805, in Centre, Pennsylvania, at the age of 72, and was buried in Lemont, Pennsylvania. [11]
