William Digby attended Oxford, Christchurch (age 18 in 1854) and was ordained deacon on 23 September1759 and priest on 02 March 1760. He was appointed domestic chaplain to Stephen Fox-Strangways, 1st Earl Of Ilchester in 1760.
He held the office of Dean of Worcester between 1769 and 1777.3 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.). He held the office of Dean of Durham between 1777 and 1788.
The Honourable and Very Rev William Digby, LLD (21 January 1733 – 18 September 1788) was an eminent eighteenth century Anglican priest.[1] A cousin of Charles James Fox, he was Vicar of Coleshill and then successively Dean of Worcester, then Durham. He was also an Honorary Chaplain to the King
