Born to Thomas Dill and his wife Ruth Rapajie (Neilson), Bayard was a founding member of the Conyers, Dill and Pearman law firm.

Dill served in the Bermuda Volunteer Engineers.

He married Lucy Clare Watlington on July 3rd, 1930. They had two sons, Nicholas and Henry.

He died in 1993 following a heart attack.
