Colden, son of James T. Dillard (b. Spartanburg, South Carolina 1788) and Sarah Frances Bryant (b. Spartanburg, South Carolina 1783), was born in Spartanburg on July 8, 1808. He and his wife, Mariah, married in 1841, raised their family in Pontotoc, Mississippi. He died in 1899 and is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontotoc.[1]
