Susan (Dillard) Penn is a part of US Black heritage.

Susan was born in 1861, in Henry County Virginia. She is the daughter of Ned Dillard and Ettie Dillard.

On 26 Jul 1879, in Henry, she married James Madison Penn (b. 1860, son of Washington Penn & Ruth Dillard Couch)[1]. They had the following children.

  1. Bettie Ruth Penn b. 1879 - d. 1937, m. William James Hailey
  2. James Garfield Penn b. 1881 VA - d. 1854 WV, m. Mattie Hairston
  3. Baby girl Penn b/d. Feb 1883 (record says "born too early")
  4. Hattie B Penn b. 1884 - d. 1961, m. Paul Beard
  5. Penn Watson Penn b. 1886 - d. 1975, m. Viola Patterson
  6. Chancey Penn b. 1887 - d. bef. 1900 census
  7. Oscar H Penn b. 1888 VA - d. 1959 WV, m. Della L Wootton

James died on 13 Nov 1933. Susan died on 18 Feb 1939, age 77[2]. It is unknown where she was buried.
