Biography

Arthur was descended from the marriage of Thomas Dillon Esq of Riverstown, to Anne Luttrell of Luttrellstown, "the progenitors of the Dillon Baronets of Lismullen". [1]

Arthur was the son of Sergeant Major Arthur Dillon. [2]

He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the army. [2]

"[Around 1650,] more than 100 years after Sir Thomas Cusack acquired Lismullin, the property passed to the Dillons when a Dillon from Rivertown married a Miss Cusack, heiress of Lismullin." [3]

Arthur owned Lismullen, County Meath. [2]

He also owned Dillonstown, County Louth, which he sold to Mr Fortescue. [2]

His wife was named Mary[2] Caulfield[4].

Arthur & Mary had one daughter and three sons[2]:

  1. daughter Dillon, married Dillon Newman Esq. [2]
  2. Sir John Dillon, heir. [2]
  3. Arthur Dillon Esq, of Quartertown[2], County Cork, died 1693[5].
  4. George Dillon, died 1676 at Trinity College, Dublin. [2]

Other records show another daughter:

  • Elizabeth Dillon, eldest daughter, married Walter Pollard MP of Castle Pollard. They had a daughter Letitia. [6]

Arthur's will was dated December 1684 and proved in April 1685. [2]

There is a will dated 1706[7] for Arthur Dillon Esq of Lismullen that doesn't match any of the Arthurs recorded here on WikiTree so far. Because of the same name, can't be a brother or a son. Can't be the father because he was of Riverstown.
