John Dimig immigrated from Roden Bavaria 31 Aug 1873. The trip to New York took three weeks. John then travelled to Chatsworth, Illinois to join older brother, Henry, who had come 4 yrs. earlier. John worked as a farm hand for several years and then married Mary Schubert, whose family had also immigrated to Chatsworth from Roden. John and Mary and started farming on a rented farm. They worked hard and saved their money. In 1895, they bought 360 acres SW of Atlantic, IA & built a beautiful 12 room house there in 1901. There were two barns and other outbuildings. Wife, Mary died in 1908. In 1910, John moved to 702 Locust St in Atlantic, IA. He married Clara Beener Curry in 1910.
