Biography

Elliott Amerman Dingee was born on 1 April 1913 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, United States to Frank Amerman Dingee (1878-1945) and Louise Larue Lutkins (1881-1984).[1]

Sibling

  1. Charles Montgomery Dingee was born on 7 September 1903 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, United States. He married 1) Linda H. Hill (born c. 1904-after 1924) c. 1923 in Brooklyn, New York and maybe 2) Almeda E. Calder (1911-1950). Charles died on 2 January 1962 in New York, United States.

Marriage and Family

He married Patricia deFabeck Burgoyne (1915-1959) in St. James Protestant Episcopal Church on 4 March 1938 in Old Greenwich, Fairfield, Connecticut. Their license was obtained on 21 February 1938 in New York City.

Occupation, Travel and Residences

The only reference to employment that Elliott ever gave was as an Executive to a New York city company named Socony Vacuum Oil Company, Incorporated. He was obviously wealthy enough to have several servants in his permanent home in Connecticut. He kept that home even when he and his family were living outside the United States for extended periods of time. They also came and went with frequency, in and out of the country. Only some of his travel records were recorded here to give some idea of the frequency and scope of his business trips and how the family did or did not move with him. Wikipedia has an article about the company that later merged with Exxon [here]. Socony was an acronym for Standard Oil Company of New York. The "Vacuum" part of the name comes from a 1931 merge with Vacuum Oil.

Death and Burial

Elliott died on 9 July 1998 at the American Consulate in London, England, United Kingdom at the age of 85 according to his Social Security Death Index; however, there is a possibility that it was simply the consulate that handled the death in a foreign country. A different record has not been found. His deceased wife's family was from the Surrey area of England.

PLEASE do not change the placement of the reference and footnote notations. 1/2 of the census data and other is lost if you do. No rule that I know of that says you have to have no space between "Sources" and References or can't have footnotes. Thank you.
