James was born 6 Mar 1799 to James Dix and Catherine Mooney. He was baptised 24 Mar 1799 in St. Giles, Cripplegate.[1]
He married Susannah Hayward 26 Oct 1817 in Spitalfields Christchurch, Stepney, London England. Witnesses included a William Hayward, her father and Elizabeth Hicken who later married James brother Christopher William.[2][3]
They had seven children.
In 1841 He lived in Holborn, Middlesex and is shown living with his wife and six children. three sons were listed as Printers, two of whom where still apprentices.[4]
In 1845 the London directories shows his business at 6 Dorrington Street.[5]
In 1851 he was an Engraver and Printer living at 6 Dorrington Street in Holborn, a widower and daughter Susan and son Henry living with him.[6]
He died 14 Dec 1855 at the same address, and was buried at Nunhead Cemetery on 22 Dec, 1855.[7][8]
