George was born in 1851 in Freeland, Oxfordshire.[1] He was the son of Richard Dix and Charlotte Berry. His baptism took place at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough on 23rd November 1851.[2] His father stated on the register that he was a labourer and that the family were living in Freeland in Eynsham.
Marriage
George Dix and Sarah Oldaker were married in Church Hanborough, Oxfordshire on 24th December 1885[3]. They were bachelor and widow, both of full age and living in Hanborough. George was a blacksmith and stated of his father only that he was deceased. Sarah was the daughter of John Truman who was a shoe-maker. They each signed their own name on the register and the witnesses to the marriage were John Truman and Annie Truman[4].
