Job Dix was born in about 1793 at Leafield in Oxfordshire. [1] [2] [3] Job was baptised at Leafield Chapel on 16 June 1793, as the son of David and Jane Dix. [1]
Job Dix and Sarah Whiting, both of Leafield in the parish of Shipton under Wychwood, were married at the parish church of Shipton under Wychwood on 2 November 1822. The witnesses were called William Ferriman and Bilhah Dix [Job's sister.] [4]
In 1851 Job Dix was living at Leafield with his wife Sarah and their children. (An unmarried woman called Esther Whiting was visiting; she may have been Sarah's sister.) His age was given as 57, implying a birth date in 1793 or 1794. His birthplace was given as Leafield, Oxfordshire. He was a farmer, of 72 acres, employing 2 labourers. [2]
In 1861 Job was living in Brize Norton Road at Minster Lovell in Oxfordshire with his wife Sarah and their son David. His age was given as 66, implying a birth date in 1794 or 1795. His birthplace was given as Leafield, Oxfordshire. He was a farmer, of 4 acres. [5]
Job Dix died at Minster Lovell in 1863, at the age of 70. He was buried at Leafield on 13 July 1863. [3] [6] [7]
