In 1910, Burkie and Della homesteaded nine miles south and four miles west of Keldron, So. Dak. They sold the homestead to their son, Burkie Jr., who lived on the homestead until the last day of 1986. Burkie Jr. sold the homestead to his son, Roger Dix, who is still living there. Three generations have lived on the original Burkie Dix homestead.
