Biography

In the 1881 census Samuel (age 2) was living in Hornsey, Middlesex, England. Relationship to Head: Son.[1]

In the 1891 census Samuel (age 12) was living in South Hornsey, Middlesex, England. Relation to Head: Son.[2]

Adm. sizar at TRINITY college, Cambridge University, Oct. 1, 1897. Son of John, of 39, Gloucester Road, Finsbury Park, London. B.A. 1901; M.A. 1904; M.D. 1916.[3]

Samuel served in the Great War, 1914-19 (Capt., R.A.M.C.; mentioned twice in despatches).[4]

When Samuel was about 39 in 1918 he married Hilda (Poynting) Chamberlain in Kensington, London, United Kingdom.[5]

He sometimes put his surname as Gurney-Dixon.

He was a student at St Bartholomew's Hospital and House Physician there. M.R.C.S., 1909. L.R.C.P., 1909. Resident Medical Officer, British Hospital, Buenos Ayres. Ex-President, Abernethy Society. Alderman and Chairman of Hampshire County Council. [3].

Sir Samuel Gurney Dixon wrote a book on the Transmutation of Bacteria. He was also the Chairman of Hampshire Education Committee[3].
