Sarah Ann Dixon was born on June 13, 1843, in Ontario. She had two sons and three daughters with Robert John Rutherford between 1871 and 1885. She died on June 19, 1917, in Peel, Ontario, at the age of 74[1], and was buried in Caledon, Ontario.[2]
On March 24, 1870, Sarah Ann Dixon, 25, of Chingacousy, daughter of Andrew and Catherine Dixon, married Robert John Rutherford, 26, a farmer in Vaughan. Robert was born in the United States, the son of James and Rebecca Rutherford. Witnesses were Alexander Dixon of Chingacousy and Eliza Jane Rutherford of Albion. They were married at the Congregational Parsonage in Albion.[3]
Sarah died on June 19, 1917, in Brampton, Ontario, at the age of 74. She was widowed at the time of her death. Her cause of death was accident, fractured skull, a few hours, but there is no further information to indicate how she suffered such a trauma. The informant on the record was Dixon Rutherford, of Brampton.
