Notes for JAMES ROWLAND DIXON:

James was born at Mangrove, and lived at Windsor and Riverstone until he was 15. He decided to seek greener pastures. He arrived at William Jurds farm at Ravensdale one midnight. He had ridden his pony down old Priests Ridge. He worked for William for a while and later drove horse teams.

Two of James and Caroline's sons had been working for Fred Carson at Brush Creek, and moved with him to the new mill site at Carsonville, outside of Gloucester. One of the sons was driving a truck with some of his mates in it during a thunder storm. His mates got out of the truck and took shelter under a tree, sadly the truck was struck by a bolt of lightning and he was killed.

The couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary in the Wyong Youth Hall on 29 December 1954. There were 100 relatives and friends in attendance and received telegrams from the Queen, the Governor-General, the Prime Minister and the NSW State Premier.
